It started in 1978. Patrick McGowan founded PM Construction — named for himself and his wife Marlaina — framing custom homes and crafting custom millwork in Southern California. What began as one man's trade became a family business. In 1997, the company incorporated as BCAL Construction Inc., named for Patrick's first four sons.
Patrick was a true craftsman who knew every trade. He put family first, delivered the highest quality to every client, and built his entire business on referrals — his only advertising. His honesty, work ethic, and selfless character are the foundation BCAL still stands on today.
After Patrick's sudden passing on October 2, 2021, his wife Marlaina (CEO/CFO) and their second son Christopher (COO) stepped in to carry the legacy forward. Today, BCAL remains proudly family-owned and operated — building better futures, one project at a time.
